When social commitment meets sustainable gastronomy!“Socity” recovers food surplus and transforms it into exceptional bistronomic meals. Thanks to Cookwork’s shared kitchens, their collective of chefs can bring this ambitious project to life. Discover their story and positive impact!
“
Can you explain what "Socity" is?
Of course! "Socity" is an association that fights against food waste and promotes social inclusion. The idea is to recover food surplus from various chain distributors, mainly organic stores, and transform it into bistronomic meals created by a collective of chefs that we formed in Brussels. So, different chefs who work in popular restaurants repurpose this food surplus into high-quality meals.
The purpose of these meals is that people, by paying to participate in these events, actually create a virtuous circle because part of the profits is directly donated to the associations that we work with. This year, we are working with the Red Cross, so part of the profits is redistributed to them.
Right now, we are developing a brand-new project called "Second Bite." The idea is to further minimize food waste by transforming the recovered surplus into preserved products: spreads, vegetable pickles, vegetable chips, and many more. So that’s our project at the moment.
Great! And why Cookwork?
Because the idea of sharing, co-working, and this whole "sharing" concept, it all fits perfectly within our artistic vision. Sharing and really optimizing the use of a space makes total sense to us.
Also, I liked the energy, the website, and the customer service – I had a great experience directly over the phone. So, I didn’t hesitate at all. Itl happened very quickly. Within a week, we were here. So, I’m really happy!
And are you happy with the kitchen? Was it easy to find?
It’s great, really great! The chefs are happy, I’m happy, everyone is happy, bellies are happy – it’s perfect!
Thank you!
No problem!”
